I am is a self-educated artist-painter, who
currently live and work between London and France.
After
completing scientific studies (I have a MSc in
civil engineering), and while working for a consultant company, I
started to
focus on artistic creation, in all its forms. I took courses in a great
variety of different fields : music, pottery, mosaic, life drawing,
painting. I am happy now to use all these different medias to help my
emotions speak on the
canvas. I finally ended up chosing abstraction to express myself. Abstraction has always spoken to me as something familiar, maybe because of my scientific
background. With
the years, my studio has become a repair of many
collections of different sorts. I find in these various objects
(papers,
fabrics, sands, rocks, dried herbs, spices, ...) my main inspiration. I
stick, crush, alter, wash, tear, in order to recycle, to transform, to
use differently, to give another birth to those little nothings. It is
also my way to draw attention of my wiewers, on ecological issues. Even
if my work is not 100% natural, I tend to use mostly natural products :
I make my paints myself, using potatoes or yogurt as in ancient
recipes. The underpainting of my work entails a time-consuming
process of many layers of materials. I can’t plan my acts in advance. My
work just grows with my feelings, and it's always a struggle for me, to know where exactly to
stop the process. My latest works give a special place to the lines
: I want the viewer to grip those lines in order to enter the
painting ... or not !! I would like whoever look at my paintings, to have the freedom to
look at them, in the way they feel it. That's why, I don't want to give
precise titles, nor an "up" or a "down",
for the same reasons. |
